Our educators use intentional teaching practices, thoughtfully planning and scaffolding experiences that respond to children’s interests, strengths, and developmental needs.

 Relationships are at the heart of our practice, and we strive to support a sense of belonging by building strong, trusting partnerships with children, families, and the wider community.

 We understand our role in supporting strong physical and mental health of children, staff and families. We embrace natural environments as integral to children’s learning, using them to inspire environmental stewardship and respect for the world around us.

We value a holistic approach to development, supporting children’s social, emotional, cognitive, and physical growth through integrated learning opportunities.

Recognising the importance of continuity, we work collaboratively with families and other services to ensure smooth transitions and consistent learning experiences.

We understand that learning is an ongoing process for educators as well as children and ensure that our practices are grounded in current pedagogical research.

Surat ECEC educators are passionate life-long learners who understand the complexities of living in small rural communities.

Aligned with the Queensland Kindergarten Guidelines, Early Years Learning Framework, and My Time Our Place framework, our philosophy reflects a shared vision of children as capable, curious learners and educators as co-constructors of knowledge.

Our philosophy statement is a 'living document' and is everchanging as new insights are gained and current practices are reflected upon and evaluated.
