At Jandowae, a community-based, not-for-profit long day care service with a rich history of supporting families, we are committed to providing a high-quality early childhood education care environment that nurtures the whole child.

Our Philosophy is deeply grounded in respect, relationships, and a strong sense of belonging.

We proudly deliver a play-based kindergarten program 2 days per week, embedded within a long day care context, where every child is recognised as a competent, capable, and curious learner.

We believe play is the foundation of lifelong learning, fostering creativity, exploration, resilience and a strong sense of self.

Our program and practice are guided by the Queensland Kindergarten Learning Guidelines, Early Years Learning Framework, the National Quality Standards, and the 8 Aboriginal Ways of Learning.

We strive to develop and improve our program and practice through a collaborative approach which includes children, families, educators, the environment and the community.

Our natural outdoor environment playground invites children to connect with the land, develop physical confidence, and engage with nature as both a teacher and a space to wellbeing. These experiences support children’s understanding of the environment and their role in care for Country.

We respectfully acknowledge the Traditional Custodians of the land, recognising the enduring connection First Nations Peoples have to the land, waters, skies, and culture. We are committed to embedding Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander perspectives across our practice, ensuring children develop culture awareness and deep respect for the oldest continuing cultures in the world.

Our team of nurturing, knowledgeable, and passionate educators are responsive to each child’s needs and advocate for the rights of all children to feel safe, heard, and respected.

As mandatory reporters, we are deeply committed to maintain a child-safe environment, embedding practices that safeguard children’s physical and emotional wellbeing at all times.

We recognise that families are children’s first and most influential teachers. We value the unique knowledge, cultures, experiences, and aspirations families bring, and we work in genuine partnership to support each child’s learning journey.
